Arthur W. Overocker, 39, 0f 405 S. Bloomington St., died at 7:51 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hagi Funeral Home. The Rev. John E. Gutz will officiate.

Music will be provided by organist Grace Teach who will accompany Cheryl Cinnamon. Songs will include “The Green Green Grass of Home” and “A Closer Walk with Thee.”

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Members of the Streator American Legion Post 217 and the Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 will conduct firing squad, honor guard, “Taps” and flag folding ceremonies under the direction of Ed Hart and Joe Sheridan.

Serving as pallbearers will be Pete Williamson, Anthony Williamson, Tony Miles, Mark Lowe, Steven Kotches and brother, Mike Overocker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews, Mark Lowe Jr., Zack, Luke and Emma Lowe, Quint and Cassie Overocker, Virginia Phillips, Anjanette Grankowski, Jamie Blevins, Jessica Kotches and Molly Tibbles.

Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Born Oct. 5, 1959, in Streator, he was the son of Arthur H. and Theresa (Krasnican) Overocker. He married Renae Hoskins in November 1995, in Streator. She survives.

Also surviving is his mother, of Streator; a daughter, Stephanie Overocker of Addison, N.Y.; a brother, Michael (Gayle) Overocker of Ancona; sisters, Toni (Mrs. Tony) Miles, Davie Jo (Mrs. Steven) Kotches and Jane (Mrs. Mark) Lowe, all of Streator; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and a niece.

He attended Streator grade and high schools. He was employed by Dependable Manufacturing Company.

He served in the United States Marine Corps in Okinawa and Arizona.
